SET OF CRAYONS (words found on a child’s school paper) we feel free we meet a deer feel these see the deer’s feet see the rear feet
2.
Do the Crawl 05:01
DO THE CRAWL (Maw Shein Win) Have you heard of the crawl? I C-R-A-W-L over to your place baby We lap up Buds with our useful tongues and grunt love sounds like happy bears this is my life Someone once whispered to me “surely you must know there is more” “IMPOSSIBLE” Yet sometimes in the night while your snoring moves the furniture I wish I smelt like trees

Indian Bingo 04:54
INDIAN BINGO (Eric Strauss) Desert night – mute starless horizon flat grey stainless low clouds cover the hut Blue monk blares from the crater out back inside it’s a bust hot, tan and twisted two wheeled excitement large lobes of flesh wheeze on the dance floor heads like potatoes but a little bit larger Second generation invaders they prance about the room in wanton rhumba frenzy tumblers in tentacles held high war whoops garbled and silly squeals of delight parade of lampshade hats sap-smeared buttocks their nubile snakes with a bowl of dip on the side Outside in the silence pigeons on the roof strut small circles on the shingles bob and coo, bob and coo
5.
IMPERFECTIONS (David Kerman) “Tis not true reason I despise, but yours” Such insolence of mankind life endures It would seem in our most self-important state We have shown throughout time such distrust of fate As to happily live stripped of nature’s laws We, a most inconsistent ebb and flow of flaws With a smile and a bow we commence to dance Ear to mouth with the woes of extravagance

about

"Careful crafting of styles and textures, impeccable interplay between musicians, strong thinking, and a sense of fun."
- Dan Maryon, Option

"MTG are kind of like a "serious" chamber ensemble who have descended into a fine madness after listening to and fully digesting all sorts of ethnic third-world music, old Albert Ayler records, and Dr. Demento radio shows."
-Jon Booth, Sound Choice

Shapuno Zoo Anniversary Video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBy2IRdsxc8

Along a row of dials the Motor Totems recline,
await the limousine, LAX
The last installment, purple lips, in hopped-up
Still faint montage, averted gaze abending
Through badgered silence punctuating brow-borne
Oblations over eucalyptus shavings
While peafowl hoot and tremble in the canyon
An urgent warning from Luigi Futi:
A scourge prepares to pounce on Yanoama

The Indians who dwell in the shapuno
And known to neighbors by the name Fierce People
Hold land of unimagined mineral bounty
Inside Shapuno Zoo see parrots, jaguar,
Ducks, monkeys, fruit, potatoes, anaconda,
Ants, tortoise, bats, okhoto snake, anteaters,
Japim birds, mutum birds, termites, eight palm trees,
Banana pap, and ecocidal forces
A scourge prepares to pounce on Yanoama

The languor of the Motor Totemist Guild
Belies their potent hermeneutic weapons –
A set of crayons, ribbon prisms, hunch-crawl,
A summer place, Rimbaud’s gangrenous bingo,
The two-backed beast, perfection, sukiyaki –
The also serve who merely play these pieces
And start from where they spark to save a forest
Where Yanoama now inhale epena
The Guild sounds tocsin for our frail shapuno

- JM Herrin
